We had some family over the other week and got to hang out in our backyard. Our backyard is one of my favorite things about our new house. Its very long and spacious with lots of room to run around. We have some plans for its future like building a deck, trimming lots of trees, having a fire pit, planting lots of bushes and flowers, and having an edible garden. Most of these plans will have to wait a year or two as we save up money for them, but I am really excited about what our backyard can become. In the meantime, I always feel really proud to entertain people in here because there's so much room for kids to play! That's definitely something that you start to think about when you have a family.
Also I am aware that the last picture has a yard bin in the back, but it was such a nice picture that I wanted to put it up anyways! :)
These pictures are from a few weeks ago, when it was really warm out. I got inspired from my mom to make Audrey a little water station to play with outside. It was really just a bunch of containers and bowls filled with water, but she had a good time. Towards the end she was just dumping water on herself, so i had to take all her clothes off and let her keep playing in the nude. Which made for some adorable bum pictures! I also put together a little platter of snacks for her, which she enjoyed picking from and being all independent. Although her favorite is definitely picking the grapes off the stems. :)
A few weeks ago I wrote down a morning routine that i want to follow with Audrey, so that we dont end up just watching cartoons all morning. A part of the routine is doing some sort of hands on activities, like coloring. To be honest i have been a little hesitant to let Audrey color, because the little sneaky one has drawn on the walls a couple of times already. And we still havent gotten her a little table and chair to sit on, so she gets tired of standing and coloring sometimes. But yesterday I decided to give it a try at the big table. I sat her down with a couple of cushions under her, and she loved it! As you can see in one of the pictures, she insists on calling anything round a "ball". She enjoyed it so much that when it was time to be done, she threw herself on the floor and had a little tantrum. Which I ignored of course. And a couple minutes later, she came over to me for a hug and we talked about being obedient. Well, I talked. Hopefully she listened. :) But she is responding really well to correction lately, so I am hopeful for the future. :)
We went to the coast over the weekend, with all the grown up cousins from my side of the family. My mom watched Audrey for us, so it was a really nice and relaxing break. All I wanted to do all day was sit and read because I never get to do that at home anymore and I missed it so much! But we did all sorts of fun things like fly kites, play bocce ball, sit by a campfire, do a jigsaw puzzle and play board games. And i just loved being around all my relatives, because i don't get to see them that often. It was really fun, but i missed my little baby and was really happy to see her again. :)
