Snapshots this week. Oh yeah, and we bought a house today!

1. Coffee..
2. Those little pigtails. And those eyelashes!
3. Baking potatoes in the oven.
4. A present for my sister.
5. "Vzshhhh" goes the car.
6. A pretty place for flowers. From the Goodwill.
7. My two favorite shoes this season. They get a lot of wear.

Sooo.. on to the most important part. We finally closed the deal on our house today!!  It has been a very anxious last week, with some headaches, but its all done now. We have the keys and everything! That feels very cool to me...
I will probably pack my first box tonight. (i feel like maybe i was waiting for everything to be official before i made this monumental step.)

The official move will probably happen sometime in the next two weeks, but in the meantime, we have lots of work to do. Cleaning and organizing and packing and maybe some painting. (The packing and cleaning part i dont like... but hopefully we will get some help and it will be quick and painless) :)

Here's to my new life as a homeowner!

"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Audrey: Reading (upside down).

*I highly recommended this beautiful book: Eating the Alphabet. It has the most diverse fruits and vegetables in it, and pretty illustrations. (example: endive, parsnip, kohlrabi, persimmon.) I feel like I'm learning when i look through it. :)

Papa and his dotsya.

I love this picture of the two of my favorite people. (One of them is a very tiny person.. )

It was taken about a week ago, when Audrey was still sick. She wanted to cuddle and watch cartoons all day. Some favorites right now are Pokoyo and Curious George. Thankfully we are all feeling much better now, almost in perfect condition.

On a more exciting note, we are buying a house!! It has been a long process of finding the right one, but we have done it. We should be signing papers and closing the deal in a week. I am really excited to move to a bigger place, but dreading the actual packing and moving part :) So far I have not packed a thing, but we still have our rental house till the end of February, so there is still time. But I really should get on top of that...
Im looking forward to documenting this new chapter in our life: being homeowners. Wow, that feels cool to say. :)

We went on a date tonight.

One of my new year resolutions was to go on more dates with my husband. Our plan to go out for our anniversary last Tuesday didn't work out because me and Audrey were still really sick. We just stayed in and had take out pho. (which was great!) But I still felt like I needed a real date. :) So we made new plans to go out again.

After we got dressed up tonight, I insisted to Viktor that we needed to take pictures together because we dont have much of just the two of us. So I set up the camera on the deck and we got it done. :) And I really like how they turned out.

Oh and we had dinner and coffee together. And talked about what it would be like being on Chopped and what we would make from the mystery baskets. And we had a great time. :)

"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2013"

Audrey: Watching snowflakes falling from the sky. Our first flakes this year.

(I chose to post 2 pictures because i just could not decide. And the snow only lasted about 10 min..) :)

We are sick this week.

Its been a pretty hard week over here, and we dont seem to be getting any better. Audrey has a runny nose, and I have a pretty bad sore throat. Like where it hurts to swallow. And it makes me feel so bad for my little baby, because she could have a sore throat too and I wouldn't even know it. :(
So our days are filled with wiping runny noses, drinking lots of tea, warm apple juice and soup, and endless hours of cartoons. Hopefully we will get through this soon.

Oh and tomorrow is our 2 year anniversary of being married!! Seems like we've been married for years and years... We're planning on going out to dinner to celebrate, sick or not.

"A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Audrey: Trying to open the oven. I have to keep an eye on her at all times these days.

I was inspired by one of my favorite blogs, Che and Fidel, to join in on this photography challange. I will be posting a picture of Audrey once a week, and hopefully at the end I will turn it into an album!

Thoughts on the new year.

(This picture is of Audrey, in January of last year. So small..)

I, like many others out there, have made some tentative new year goals. I heard on the radio yesterday, that as people get older they are less likely to make new year resolutions, because they have learned from the years prior that they will not keep them. That makes me sad to think of the future, but for now I will keep making them! I like goals, especially for the new year, because they let me evaluate my life and remember what is important. So here are some of mine, written down so that I would be encouraged to keep them.

Get out of the house more as a family.
Less internet time. (a total time stealer over here)
Cook routinely.
Go on a date with Viktor at least 2 times a month.
Read together a couple nights a week instead of watching shows.
Budget our money better.
Eat more fruits! (I am so bad at this for some reason.)
Drink more water! (also bad at it...)
Read 1 new book a month.
Get better at photography.
Serve at my church.
Knit a blanket.

So there you have it! There are some more goals in my notebook that i left out, but this is a good chunk. Im gonna be taking it slow and hopefully implementing some of these into smaller monthly goals to make it easier for me. Im excited for this new year!

Papa and his dotsya.

Audrey gets the most cuddly when she is watching cartoons. I honestly really love those moments, they might even be my favorite time with her right now. (is that weird..) Its just that she is so calm and peaceful and snuggles into my chest. And of course I love to watch her cuddled up in her papa's lap. Whenever I see moments like these, it makes my heart melt.

See more papa and his dotsya here.
