Today.

I woke up at 7:30 to feed Audrey.
We went to Trader Joe's with the whole family and bought goodies.
Audrey played on the floor with all her toys.
We listened to The Beatles.
Audrey pulled herself up everywhere she wanted to and tried to pick out a record to play next.
We all took a family nap together.
I made apricot jam.

A family room.

Always scattered with toys, but isn't that what a family room is? A room for our little family to play in. For mama to sit on the couch and drink tea and read blogs. (my favorite thing to do..) For papa to relax and take a nap. For baby girl to crawl around and turn all the knobs on the stereo. It's a perfect room for us.

Zucchini attack!

We've been harvesting lots of zucchinis from the garden the last couple of day. So far we have fried them, roasted them, pureed them (for Audrey) and cooked them in a curry. I still like them, but am running out of ways to cook them. If any of you have ideas, please let me know!!

A birthday and 9 months old.

We celebrated Viktor's 27th birthday a couple days ago, and i want to say that love that man. He is a good husband and a good papa. I made some red velvet cupcakes just for him and got a little balloon (that Audrey loved to play with.) We hung out at home and ate Zuppa Toscana, and later went out on the porch and blew bubbles for Audrey and Kitsya. They both liked it very much. This month Audrey is learning how to feed herself with her fingers. Its really sweet watching her pick up tiny cereal puffs and put them in her mouth. :)
*also she is naked on the floor because it was very hot ;)

8 1/2 + months old

Technically Audrey is gonna be 9 months old in about a week, but i didn't want forget all the cool stuff she learned this past half a month. Like crawling! Yep she's been crawling for about 2 weeks now and is a champ at it. And along with crawling comes that dreaded (for parent's anyways) pulling herself up on all the furniture. She is frighteningly good at it, and good at doing it quietly while I'm not looking. And then I look over and she's all holding on to the coffee table and wobbling around. So i have to dash over there to make sure she doesn't hurt herself. But I am proud of her new skills, she's especially good at standing up in the crib, something that does not come in handy when i want her to fall asleep for her nap. I've also been slowly feeding her fruits and vegetables in a more chunky form. She loves pieces of strawberries and avocado. That's it for now!

A tiny carrot and new potato

I had to sacrifice a tiny carrot today because the row was a little crowded. But I have been curious for some time as to how big they are by now... so I'm glad i got to see. Also i dug up a potato! It looks so normal, just like a potato at the store. (I'm not sure what i was expecting to see...) The radishes are growing like mad men also. Oh and I ate the carrot already, it was tasty!!!

Thoughts for a busy girl: what is hospitality?

Yesterday i bought this book on hospitality. This is something that i think about a lot, and want to learn how to do better. I think hospitality is about serving others in your home, and being happy about doing it. Not complaining about how much i need to clean before we can have people over, and then how much i need to clean after they leave. Not stressing about what to serve for dinner, but just planning a relaxing evening with some simple food that is arranged in a pretty way. (I love making food look pretty!) Anyways i just started reading the book, and i cant wait to learn more and share our home with others. The pictures are from Sunday evening when we had friends over.

From our garden.

Two little strawberries have finally ripened! And they were so tasty. I only planted 3 plants, so there's not going to be a whole lot of them, but its so fun to pick them and then eat right away. If you don't have a garden , or any planters on your patio or balcony, get some right away!!! I am having the best time with this gardening experience. :)

A day and a night in downtown Portland.

We had our very first night without Audrey this past weekend. My mom watched her for us while we took a little break from parenthood and focused on marriagehood and birthday-hood. (Oh yeah, it was my 23rd!) We spent all of Monday together, and then stayed the night at the Benson Hotel. There was lots of coffee, talking, eating, reading, walking, dreaming, thrift shopping and hand holding.

*that little rose garden bench is where Viktor asked me to be his wife almost 2 years ago!

Splishy splashy.

We gave Audrey a bath in the tub a couple days ago and I think she thought it was the best thing ever! I love giving her baths, its a time to just watch my baby girl splash and play. And i love how she looks like a little baby chick when she's all wrapped up in her towel afterwards. :)
