Blah

Ive been sick for the last couple days. Sore throat, runny nose, and a throbbing mouth from a wisdom tooth coming in.(i think) So im drinking the Tylenol and hanging out on the couch. And drinking a lot of tea. Me and Viktor are having a blast watching all sorts of TV shows on Netflix. We just started Heroes, which at first i thought was really creepy, but now im getting into it. Im really hoping that im not getting Audrey sick in this whole process...

Oh and also ive been having a cough. That cough where if you say a word, your throat starts to tickle so much that you start coughing. Also when i breathe with my mouth it happens. Does anyone know what im talking about? Who has experienced this?
So that is what has been going on lately... not fun stuff. (except for the Netflix)

the little one

Enjoying life with my little daughter lately. She is becoming so curious, staring at her hands, moving them around much more, and trying to grab her foot. Its so funny because she cant really do it yet, but she tries so hard :)

family

We spent a day and a half in Portland with my side of the family. It makes me happy to be with my sisters and spend time together. We all ate some dinner, played games and had a good time. I think little Audrey really enjoys her aunts. :)

Right after all these holidays will be over, our little family will be moving to a new place pretty soon. We are on the search for homes right now, and its a little stressful. But im really looking forward to starting fresh in a new place, and moving all the furniture around to make it look nice and cozy. And Audrey will have her own room! That will be nice :)

*also Viktor got me an awesome red, cast iron dutch oven for Christmas! Its what i have wanted for a while, i always see all the chefs on cooking shows using them :) I already cooked in it today and it was delicious! (im not sure if it was because of the pot, or just me...) :)

homemade christmas gifts

I know that last picture is not a gift, but Audrey's little feet... but i couldn't resist! How cute are they??

So this year Viktor and I decided to make some homemade gifts to give to our families. A while back I made some plum jam, and me and Viktor made some hard apple cider. I also found some cute little soaps that i wrapped in brown paper, and made some Christmas cards.
Just like with the 12 days of Christmas, i meant to make more things, like peanut brittle for example. But time really ran away from me. Its a busy life with a baby!

Anyways, im looking forward to this Christmas weekend. We're driving down to Portland on Friday to spend the day with my family, and then on Saturday driving back here and having dinner with Viktor's family. So it will be very busy. And on actual Christmas day we get to relax and just hang out with one another. I'm looking forward to that the most, cant wait to open my present from Viktor! Even though i pretty much already know what it is... ;)

zarie and nastya sleep over!

On Tuesday, a couple of my friends from Portland came over to spend the night. It was so nice to see them! We sang together, ate snacks, watched a movie and talked a lot. I even got to make them breakfast, which i liked a lot. There's just something about making breakfast and brewing coffee for people that i really enjoy. It was really fun to see them with Audrey and i think she liked the extra attention. :) I havent had or been to a sleepover in a long time, so this felt really nice. Thanks for visiting guys! :)

on the fifth day of Christmas...

Sunday night, we had a little party at our place. There was a Christmas movie, hot chocolate, and a snowflake making contest! Oh, and another fire in the fireplace. :)
The 12 days of Christmas are getting a bit neglected lately, with a busy life and a baby being the main reasons. But how i see it, if we get to do at least some of them, i will be happy.
Here is what i had originally planned:

1. build a fire
2. watch a Christmas movie and make hot chocolate
3. make paper snowflakes
4. bake animal shaped cookies
5. go shopping together and buy each other a secret little gift
6. make Christmas cards
7. make cookies for our neighbors
8. go on a night drive to see Christmas lights
9. kiss under the Christmas tree
10. put together a care package for someone in need
11. read the Christmas story together as a family
12. make homemade Cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

"hi eveybody, im a little baby waving hello!"

making friends

We're trying to build some friendships over here. Kitsya has been a little difficult lately though, the most she will do is sniff Audrey if we bring her up. And then after a few seconds she panics and runs away. But this was a special little time, they hung out for about a minute! I say that a friendship is starting to blossom. Ah, how sweet... :)

a cute little bum

i mean Audrey's little bottom of course. it so cute :) she has been such a good sleeper lately, she sleeps around 9 hours in a row at night! its so amazing, i am getting more than enough sleep around here. i think back to a month ago when she would only sleep in my arms for about 2 weeks and how tired i was.. it seems like it was all a dream (pun intended!) you know that thing people say, that having a baby is really hard the first month or so, and then it gets so much better? its so true!

My favorite things about little babe right now:

1. her cute little grins
2. the tiny frowny face she makes when she cries sometimes, it makes me want to cheer her up right away!
3. when she sleeps on my stomach and looks all cute (like in the picture)
4. the fact that she learned how to suck on her hand and does it all the time! it makes a really loud suction noise and its hilarious. also she can almost stick her whole hand into her mouth. :)

the 1st day of Christmas: build a fire

Today we built a fire in our fireplace and wrapped some presents. It felt really nice and warm. A little girl with monkey feet helped make the evening even better!

cooking pumpkin squash soup!

Viktor and I had some fun today making soup. The recipe was something that he had made before, and can i say that there is just something so sexy about a man cooking! One great thing about our relationship is the many things we can share and enjoy together. I love that husband of mine...

and just look at Audrey's chubster little cheeks! I love her so much these days! Honestly i didn't know i could love a little human this much. I can spend all day kissing her hamster cheeks :) And now when she see's me after waking up to eat, she gives me this big toothless grin. man, babies are so lovely. There were a couple really hard weeks at the beginning, but being a parent has been so nice lately. I'm really enjoying where my life is right now. :)

cozy christmas feelings

Viktor, me, and the baby decorated our tree today! But Audrey missed it all, she was fast asleep in my Moby carrier the whole time!  silly baby :)
I spent the afternoon today looking for Christmas ornaments at thrift stores.  I found some pretty neat old ones, and also just some simple ones for a really good price! Then Viktor went out and got us a pretty tree! It smells so good in here... like Christmas time! Our Kitsya is being all naughty and swatting at the ornaments, she even knocked some down already.. but she seems to be really enjoying the tree, so im happy about that. And I caught little Audrey looking with interest at the tree as well. Its gonna be a good Christmas time around here :)

12 days of Christmas

I spent the afternoon today listening to Christmas music and doing some crafts. I call this the 12 days of Christmas! there is a card for each day and on the back it has certain things that we have to do as a family. Some examples are:

bake cookies
read the christmas story

(i don't want to write them all because my husband reads my blog and i want it to be a surprise every day!) :)

anyways, the purpose of it is to bring our family closer together in this winter month. Hopefully everyone in the family will cooperate. (I'm talking about you little Audrey, i know you like to cry as soon as we start doing something fun...) :) But seriously it seems that she wakes up as soon as we sit down to eat. Its like she thinks, "its not fair, they are all eating, i want to eat too!!!!"
